Loan repayments

Principal & interest, constant interest rate, end-of-period payments. Interest is divided by periods per year; excludes fees and offsets. Weekly/fortnightly figures are amortised independently, not monthly payments divided.

Understand your estimate

Frequently asked
questions.

About repayments, interest and your loan.

How does this repayment calculator work?

Enter a loan amount, annual interest rate and term, then choose monthly, fortnightly or weekly repayments. The estimate assumes principal-and-interest payments at a constant rate, with no fees, offset balance or extra repayments.

How are repayments calculated?

The loan is amortised over the selected number of payments. The annual rate is divided by the number of payments per year. Each frequency is calculated independently; weekly and fortnightly amounts are not simply a monthly payment divided.

What happens if interest rates change?

This estimate holds your chosen rate constant. A higher rate usually increases repayments; a longer term can lower each payment while increasing total interest. Actual lender calculations and payment dates may differ.

What is LVR?

Loan-to-value ratio compares the loan with the property value accepted by the lender. For example, a $640,000 loan against an $800,000 property has an 80% LVR. This repayment tool does not assess a property value.

What is LMI, and is it included here?

Lenders mortgage insurance protects the lender, and may be required at a higher LVR. It is not included in this repayment estimate. You can enter a confirmed LMI quote in the upfront-cost calculator to compare paying it in cash or adding it to the loan.
